The Castle of Dreams

This is one of the most famous castles in the world. It is called "Neuschwanstein" and it ranks among the most photographed motives in Germany. Countless pictures have been taken of this castle. It is the perfect motive for photographers in all seasons. Built by "crazy king" Ludwig of Bavaria it is located in a perfect scenery right at the mountains of Bavaria. This picture is taken from a bridge which spans across a small canyon close to the castle "Hohenschwangau" - which was the castle of Ludwig's parents. The best time to visit is summer. When you travel the romantic road from Wuerzburg to Fuessen Neuschwanstein will be the highlight at the end.

Typical German Houses

The picture that you see here is the type of typical houses that you see in old German towns. Usually only in the historic centers of smaller towns these types of houses still exist. They are called "Fachwerk". This picture was taken in Bonn - the old German capital. Usually these houses are very narrow, because the towns used to be protected by walls. So they had to be built very close to one another and with very narrow streets inbetween. Sometimes these houses are broader in the first and second floor than they are in the basement.
